Marriage Matters
Marriage Matters is a video podcast created by Andy and Jo – launched ahead of their 25th Wedding Anniversary, in 2021.
It is a bi-weekly video and audio podcast, that you can choose to watch or listen to, with new episodes going Live on Saturday evenings from 4pm.
Andy and Jo they knew their celebrations were only possible by God’s grace, and by putting Him at the centre of all they do throughout their marriage.
Combined with their passion to see Marriages thrive, and God’s kingdom grow, Marriage Matters is a celebration of God's goodness, and sharing some life lessons Andy and Jo picked up along the way - usually the hard way!
Early Beginnings
Andy and Jo fell in love in the 1990s, but Jesus Christ was always at the centre of their lives, their friendship, their marriage and their family. Scripture was always central too, and Marriage Matters has, at its foundation, these two scriptures which drive, inspire and encourage Andy and Jo:
Heart, Vision and Purpose
Marriage Matters, with Andy and Jo, are moments to share and celebrate God’s plan for uniting one man and one woman, before God, to build His kingdom; to be an example of our relationship with God.
We hope our own testimony of our marriage, with it’s many struggles and celebrations, highs and lows, the good and the bad – will inspire you in your own marriage, or to take time to support and pray for marriages in your own circles of influence.
Titus 2:4-7 (NLT)
These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children, to live wisely and be pure, to work in their homes, to do good, and to be submissive to their husbands. Then they will not bring shame on the word of God. In the same way, encourage the young men to live wisely. And you yourself must be an example to them by doing good works of every kind. Let everything you do reflect the integrity and seriousness of your teaching.
James 4:13-16 (NLT)
Look here, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we are going to a certain town and will stay there a year. We will do business there and make a profit.” How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone. What you ought to say is, “If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that.” Otherwise you are boasting about your own pretentious plans, and all such boasting is evil.
The family
Their 3 living children all love Jesus too and each chose, individually – and at their own request – to follow Jesus Christ as they turned 4 years old. Peter, the youngest, actually did it one day earlier, however, than his brothers. It seemed they wanted to mark their 4th birthdays by dedicating their lives to Jesus Christ, and this deliberate pursuit of God has continued throughout their lives!
Our 4th child – Magdi – sadly died when she was just 11 weeks old. She would have been Peter’s older sister. Her legacy, however, lives on with a motto we frequently quote and live by – “One Life, Live It”. And that we do, to the best of our abilities. We look forward to meeting her when we go to heaven.
