I love cycling and I’ve been doing it as far back as I can remember.

I helped Jo develop a passion for cycling when we got married and I taught my own boys to cycle through the busy streets of a large City in England.

I’ve cycled through snow and through rain, through fog and through windy weather. But, one condition that makes nervous is ice. The other is gusty winds. That last one makes me not stops me in my tracks.

As a professionally trained driver, with a decade and a half of experience – I have no clue how many miles, but 56 Miles Per Hour for anything up to nine hours a day, over a 15 year period would be something towards how many miles I covered.

I have seen a lot of good and bad drivers.

I wonder what stops you from doing the things you’ve set out to do? Even things you enjoy doing.

I wonder what God has called you to do, that you’re too afraid to try doing.

I can promise you only one thing – if God has called you to do something for Him then, with Him, you can’t fail to succeed to accomplish what He will equip you to do.

[00:00:00] So another Andy B Two Minute Video.

[00:00:11] Now, I love cycling. I've been cycling since I was a little boy. I cycled to school. When I got married. I was really chuffed that I bought my wife a bike, and really helped her to develop her own ability to cycling. I'd grown up in Wolverhampton, a big City. Cycling is just what I did.

[00:00:25] When I had my own children we bought a cycle trailer, not a second car, so I could take my children around. So, even from a newborn age, literally, a few days old, they were in a bicycle trailer. And then they were on a tag along bike behind. And then they had their own bikes and they learned to ride through Wolverhampton as I did, through busy City Streets. Why? Because cycling is a really good, cheap way of getting about. It's great for your health and it gives you freedom. You can get further than you could do Walking. Cycling is brilliant.

[00:00:54] Now, I'm not a fair weather cyclist. I've cycled through all sorts of conditions. I've cycled through snow. [00:01:00] Doesn't particularly phase me on a mountain bike with decent tyres.

[00:01:02] There are two things when I won't cycle.

[00:01:04] One of 'em is ice, because, well, you're just stupid if you cycle on ice, without good tyres and it's ice.

[00:01:10] And the second thing is gusting winds, which is what I wanted to talk about today.

[00:01:13] Now, at the moment, a car is off the road. It had an issue. Thankfully, it's safe in the garage, no problem dangerous wise, but it can't be driven till it's repaired. We can't afford to make repairs just yet, so it's sitting in a garage.

[00:01:26] Great will go cycling. Not a problem. 15 minute cycle. We've got panniers. We've got rucksacks. We can go to the local supermarket, get what we want.

[00:01:33] Here's the problem. First few days of that? We had strong gusting winds. I won't cycling strong gusting winds. I don't mind cycling in wind, but if it's gusty I don't wanna know why. 'Cos it's dangerous. And it's something that I'm not comfortable about doing. Haven't driven in all sorts, and cycled all over the place, professionally driven trucks for 15 plus years, I won't cycle in the gusting winds.

[00:01:57] In our lives, there are things that are gonna stop [00:02:00] you and me from doing certain things. These things will happen, which will prevent us from doing stuff. So what is it that's stopping you from doing what God is calling you to do?

[00:02:11] Maybe those gusting winds are fear.

[00:02:14] Maybe it's in a feeling of inadequacy.

[00:02:16] Maybe you grew up, like I did, not really being supported, and you don't have much self-confidence.

[00:02:21] There's always stuff that's gonna put you down but God's greater, and God's bigger.

[00:02:28] Gusting winds stops me cycling, so I have to walk. It's a bit more difficult, a bit more complicated. But what's stopping you from doing what you need to be doing?

[00:02:37] Sometimes it's worth hanging back and playing it safe.

[00:02:40] Sometimes it becomes an excuse.

[00:02:43] What's stopping you from doing what God's asking you to do?

[00:02:46] Just a thought.
