Weeds. They’re such a pain and I’m sure you, like me, have lovingly tended the odd one before we realised it really wasn’t something that deserved our care and attention!
Weeds grow and lie dormant under the surface of the garden just waiting for the right conditions to burst forth and ruin that lovingly weeded piece of garden that we spent hours sorting out.
Because are opportunists. They don’t need much of anything to go wild and create havoc.
We’ve all got weeds in our lives too – they lie under the surface and then suddenly guilt erupts.
If you want to deal with weeds in your garden you need to find the root and get rid of that, or they’ll come back.
Likewise, there are temptations in our lives that need properly cutting off and out – just like cancer – so they don’t grow back.

[00:00:00] So another Andy B Two Minute Video. Now I was looking at my lounge window the other day and I noticed the grass has grown very much taller than I would like it to be.
[00:00:18] So I went out with Peter and we, we cut the grass down, mowed it, cleaned it up. And the problem then of course, is once you tidy one area, I realized we've actually got two patches of grass. One on the other, other corner of the property realized, Ooh, that's quite bad too.
[00:00:33] That's a lot larger. It's got some apple trees and stuff in there. Only a few, but it's a bit of a bigger garden and we, we need to do that as well now that we've, we've done the first one.
[00:00:42] And then I started looking around the garden realizing I've, I've gone streaming around some of the edges and that looks great, but then you realize all the other weeds are there and this is the thing in life. There's always something more to do, to fix, to repair. There's always weeding that has to go on in our life.
[00:00:58] Maybe it's because [00:01:00] you started to spend too much time scrolling through Instagram.
[00:01:03] Maybe it's that you are taking a longer route home cuz you're just struggling to face your family at nighttime.
[00:01:09] Maybe there's all these different things that that can happen.
[00:01:12] Maybe you're just struggling to buy food at the moment and you are hungry. There's always these things that are going on in our lives that we have to deal with. We can't just ignore them and not deal, and we have to have to face them.
[00:01:25] But if we're not careful, then bitterness can grow and it's a bit like the weeds in my garden because they exist under the surface. And you get some decent sun and rain. Some warm warm weather and they suddenly sprout up really fast.
[00:01:36] Now of course, weeds being weeds they're really weak and they're easy to deal with. At one level, you can pull them out. You can, you can use a, a, a strimmer, a weed hacker. You can, you can strim them down, but the roots are still there. So we need to deal with the roots of those weeds, not just deal with what we can see.
[00:01:53] And it's the same in our life with those issues that we are struggling with. We have to do something about them so they don't take [00:02:00] root, and start to flower, and start to spread.
[00:02:03] If you ignore weeds, it's gonna grow.
[00:02:05] So how do you deal with it? Well it's a really simple thing. You need to get the root out. You can't just pull off the top or cut it. You actually need to, to cut it out. You can use all sorts of weed killer stuff, but ultimately you need to remove the root.
[00:02:20] In our lives there's stuff that's going on, maybe stuff you've done to yourself. Maybe there's stuff that's happening to you that you had no control over it. God still looks at our heart. How are you gonna respond?
[00:02:31] Are you gonna stay joyful in adversity?
[00:02:33] Are you gonna stay hopeful when there's no hope?
[00:02:36] Are you gonna keep looking up to Jesus?
[00:02:38] In the last week, I stopped looking up to Jesus for a few days, and they were dark days, and then somebody helped me to look up once again.
[00:02:50] Just a thought.
