How often do we learn to become comfortable with the uncomfortable?

Pain is a brilliantly designed tool, that God gave to us for our own protection!

It’s been said that if we didn’t feel pain when a stone got in our shoe, we’d keep going until our feet had been permanently damaged – that pain is a warning that we need to do something.

But we can, often so very slowly, become accustomed to things that we really shouldn’t accept as ok! A little like a frog in water – if it’s boiling that frog will jump out, but if we slowly raise the temperature, the frog won’t know about it until it is too late.

This is why the bible warns us to flee from immoral behaviour, to be in the world but not of it, to not be polluted by the world around us.

God loves us so much, that when Jesus died, rose again and ascended into Heaven, He left us with the Holy Spirit – the Comforter.

We might like to think of it as our conscience, but as Christians the Holy Spirit is never going to let us be at peace when we are doing things that are against His nature.

None of us ever really jump into bad lifestyle choices – they just tend to happen around us.

But we can be assured that are always danger signs and warnings. We simply need to take heed of the Holy Spirit – in us – who will always help us understand what is good for us, or not.

Just a thought...

So another Andy B 2 Minute Video.

And I'm continuing my little mini-series, on replacing a bike part and how that can teach us so much about life. I think I'd said 7, I think I'm up to about 9 now, but anyway!

So this one is all about accepting difficulty. It's all about rejecting acceptance..

Because I've had the bike six years, I've had problems with it for a long time. Erm, the problem with the derailleur, the bit at the back of the bike, that moves, so it selects which cog it's going to be on your back wheel, that's the faulty bit that I just replaced.

For a long time, I've accepted that, well, this is just the way it is. And I'm cycling along, and that's fine, but as soon as I try and put some pressure on the pedals to go up a hill or something, the chain banging from one cog to another, because the derailleur was faulty for a long time. And I learned to accept something, that I should have rejected.

And how often are we doing this in life where we are accepting things we should reject?

Things that are not good, or healthy, we accept them because it's just the way it is.

But how often is there something that we actually can do, about something. So accepting rejectance, sorry, rejecting acceptance, it's all about looking at our lives, going to God prayerfully, with the Holy Spirit, and saying 'what is it that I'm accepting in my life, that you know what I really shouldn't accept this? I should be rejecting that about it.

For me I've just got, I've learned to live with something that happens with the bad cycle, er, part.

Well, I've replaced that and I've dealt with it, so that's gone now.

But there's lots of stuff in life we go through where we need to reject what it is that we are accepting.

As Christians we're supposed to renew our minds, get closer to God, we're supposed to walk towards Him, become more like Jesus, less like we used to be throw off our old selves and become more like Jesus.

Well, that means rejecting things that we've accepted, doesn't it?

So we need to learn to reject things that we have been accepting. And we do that carefully, prayerfully, biblically, by going to God, trusting in the Holy Spirit.

So where are you accepting something you should be rejecting?

Just a thought.
