S04E089, Stress, Confusion and Clearing The Decks, Andy B 2 Minute Video

Download - Listen - Transcription

Stress can hit us in different ways. And one of the symptoms I’ve often experienced myself, or seen in others, is that of confusion.

You can be racing through life one moment and, the next, wonder you’ve just put the milk in the cupboard and the tea bags in the oven.

That, right there, is confusion, and too much stress can leave you in that situation.

As Christians we are absolutely not immune to the struggles of living in this world. However, we do have access to the creator and designer of this world, which means we can always ‘phone a friend’ for help.

If life is stressing you out, go grab a cup of tea, go for a walk, stand outside in nature and enjoy the sky or trees.

There’s always plenty we can do, but prevention is always better than a cure, so if you can see the stress building, talk to someone before you lose the kettle or your car keys!

Spend some time with God, who made you to be emotional – just like He is. So He knows full well, what it is to deal with stress because His own Son got so stressed he cried blood because of the anxiety He was having to process, so you’re in good company!

Just a thought...

So another Andy B 2 Minute Video. And I'm thinking a little bit in this one about stress, and how that can affect how we think, how we process thoughts, and I was thinking about tiredness in particular, and how that stresses our body. And what happens is, we can have an argument with somebody just because we're tired. That tiredness generates aggression within us, to some extent. And that can come out as an argument, or we snap at someone, we throw something down. And that's the tiredness affecting our reaction. But, actually stress, mentally, can cause us to stop thinking clearly it helps us to, to not think clearly at all.

Maybe some things happen, and you want to react to that in a good, a good, godly way. You want to be a disciple of Jesus, and show His love and, and something happens, and you just can't react to it. You can't think it through. You can't, you can't mentally process what's going on. And how do I best respond to this?

1:10
Sometimes it's just stress!

1:13
And actually, one of the best things we can do, is to take a pause, go and do something different. Go and look at some birds in some trees. Go and gaze at the sky. Have a cup of tea. Just walk away from whatever it is that's really stressing you out. Go before God and pray for some peace and come back.

1:30
Sometimes that stress can can stop you from thinking clearly. So, if you're struggling to make some difficult and important decisions, drink some water, it's really good for your brain. Get some rest. Decent sleep is really important, although it's very hard when you're stressed. But, actually, if you are stressed, talk the problem out with somebody.

1:48
I chatted something through with a friend of mine and he's like, 'I think I know what I need to do, but I'm not quite sure', and we chatted it out. And we finished and I could feel the burden lifted as he said 'I know what I need to do now'.

2:01
So where is God asking you to talk to someone? Where is God asking you to give Him the stress, so you can think clearly again?

2:08
Just a thought.
