#TestimonyTuesday: Miraculous Healing
This Testimony Tuesday is all about the healing hand of God, timing and faith! God wants to heal, but we don’t always see healing – so when we pray for healing and see it, immediately, we should give all the glory to God!
Miraculous Healing
I had been struggling with the worse sore throat I had even known.
When I took a trip to the local hospital – in the middle of the night – I knew it couldn’t be just a plain old sore throat by the way the doctor looked in my mouth, said “wow”, and started fumbling around for powerful pain killers I could immediately get in to my system “with no delay”. Not words you really want to hear from a seasoned doctor who looked rather shocked at what they had just seen at the back of your throat!
I’d been planning for a meeting with the some of our church leaders for a month. They’re super busy, so I’d booked early. Only, when they rightly asked why I wanted them to drive out to our home, I couldn’t give them a reason. I just knew I needed to get that date in the diary.
That ‘date’ was the morning following my sudden trip to hospital!
The pain I experienced was at a level I had never known for a sore throat, and never have subsequently. Tonsillitis didn’t come to close to the pain levels I was was experiencing. My doctor had even told me it was the most aggressive looking sore throat he had ever witnessed. So, when the two church leaders dutifully arrived at the appointed time I was in still bed – tired, in pain, and barely able to speak or move.
James 5 v 13-15 was in my mind so I got Jo to ask them lay hand on me and pray for healing:
Is anyone among you suffering? He should pray. Is anyone cheerful? He should sing praises. Is anyone among you sick? He should call for the elders of the church, and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up; if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
They weren’t exactly prepared for what they arrived at, so they had to borrow some of our cooking oil to do the ‘anointing with oil’ part. I don’t think it was too dirty, but oil is oil and we all wanted to obey scripture faithfully.
And God heard their hastily prepared prayer, saw my faith, honoured our obedience to what scripture taught and I was immediately healed! The pain suddenly went from me as they said the word Amen! It was the most dramatic healing I have ever personally experienced, and yet the gentles one too.
I don’t know why prayers for healing don’t always work. I just know that, sometimes, they absolutely do!
So, I praise God for His healing of my throat, but also the fact that the Holy Spirit had put such an urgency in my heart to book that appointment, that the elders from our church were already booked to come and lay healing hands on my.
I love God’s attention to detail in this one!!
