S05E029, Trinity in the Wind, Part 3 of 3, Andy B 2 Minute Video

Download - Listen - Transcription

In this second part of a 3 part series – all about the Trinity – we use the example of a Fire Chief, Firefighter and Fire Alarm.

We need the Fire Alarm to alert us to danger, the Firefighter to come rescue us, and the Fire Chief is needed because we need someone with more experience, who can sustain a much wider viewpoint.

However we describe the Trinity we must first acknowledge that the word doesn’t exist in the bible. It is, however, a way of explaining the relationship between God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

Here’s my second attempt at doing just that.

Also, if you haven’t already, go and check out the person who inspired this mini-series on the Trinity : God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit - David’s Daily dose - <a href="https://davidsdailydose.org/">https://davidsdailydose.org/</a> because David writes in such a way that is wonderfully accessible – whoever you are – and also wonderfully simple and deep at the same time. It is a rarely seen gift!

[00:00:00] S05E028, Andy B 2 Minute Video: So another Andy B 2 Minute Video. And this is a part a a 3 part series around the idea of the Trinity.

[00:00:14] Now, maybe you've heard of ways of explaining the Trinity but, as I said yesterday, the problem with the Trinity is even trying to explain it, with the best intentions and great theological understanding and comprehension, we're limited by our vocabulary as people, trying to explain a spiritual principle.

[00:00:33] So, yesterday we looked at swimming pools, so you can check yesterday's video out for more on that one. So here's another way of thinking about it in regards to Firefighters.

[00:00:40] You've got the Fire Chief. They exist above all that's going on, having a much broader view. They can see further ahead. They've got experience. They know what they're about. They know how to make the best of everybody that they've got working for them.

[00:00:54] You've got the Firefighters. It's a bit like the Son, like Jesus Christ, [00:01:00] rushing into burning buildings, rescuing people from the terrible dangers they find themselves in, without perhaps even knowing that it was gonna happen to them. That's what Jesus does for you and I every day.

[00:01:11] And then you got the Fire Alarm, the Holy Spirit. Maybe you've not got a great relationship with your Fire Alarm, but you need to have a good relationship with the Holy Spirit. Because He alerts us to what's going.

[00:01:23] You may have heard Christian leaders and preachers talking about that still, small, quiet voice. I, I've had that, but I've also had a booming, shouting, being slapped around the head, from the Holy Spirit, trying to get my attention. He alerts us to danger. He tries to prevent us from falling into problems, but when we do, there's Jesus waiting for us. And over all of that is the Firefighter, the Chief. That's God who uses all the resources around.

[00:01:54] None of those three individuals, in a firefighting situation are more important [00:02:00] than another. You want your Fire Alarms to work. You want to have a Firefighter. You want a Fire Chief that can send people out, and has the experience to deal with it all. But they're all just as important as each other, and that is the Trinity. God the Father, God the Son, God, the Holy Spirit.

[00:02:16] It's not about importance, it's about function. And they all have a different function to help us live the best lives that God wants us to live, free of pain and misery, and full of peace, and joy, and hope.

[00:02:30] Just a thought.
